"Most of the danceable hits of the past decades are already established and generally recognized by most people! Therefore, I listen, study and keep track of today's popular radio hits. If I don't have a song(s) you want me to play...I'll get it!" - Mike on the mike
Things to consider regarding music:
- Consider the type(s) of music you like, pick ten “must-have songs” and then trust you DJ to “read the crowd”.
- Think "Mass Appeal", it’s important to think about what your guests (crowd) listen too. Remember they want to have a good time at your party.
- The average song is about 3 minutes long - figure 20 songs per hour.
- Slow Songs: 1 to 2 an hour is ideal. Slow songs go at :20 and :40 after the hour, not at the top of an hour – unless it’s the first dance or similar activity.
- The last two hours of any party are the “Power Hours” and are typically full on dancing without interruptions . . . try to leave them wanting more.
